I have worked with Angela as a key member of our design team over the past several months for a 13 unit, compact, sustainable-residential community. During that time I have found her to be collaborative, inventive, cost effective and fun to work with. I was referred to her based on her knowledge of sustainable, native plants, her ability to design to budget and her natural inclination towards integrated design. I look forward to a long and productive working relationship with Angela as we develop future NOW Communities.

This past fall, I discovered Minglewood Designs. An introduction to Angela’s philosophy on responsibly caring for and enjoying the land around us - along with her portfolio - was all I needed to hire her for a major project on our property in West Concord. Our site possessed several major challenges due to the steeply sloping back yard including: erosion and run-off, access, and the creative use of sustainably designed areas to meet our family’s needs. Her solution to these issues resulted in a beautifully meandering walk down our hillside through smaller patio/deck spaces, a timber frame gazebo and an elliptical stone patio that empties onto a lower grassy area, all sustainably planted. Cobbling these elements together took a lot of skill and oversight. I watched Angela successfully manage the diverse opinions and schedules of different work crews, including timber frame and stone mason teams, and still meet or exceed time and budget constraints. At each point in the process she demonstrated a firm but open attitude toward each person she dealt with, while still insisting on high quality workmanship. Angela is able both to earn the respect of those she works with and to develop a shared vision with them for her projects.

The LCC unanimously agrees that the thoroughly rewritten Open Space and Recreation Plan does a great job of describing the history and current state of open space and natural resources in Town. It captures the special mix of conservation land, agricultural enterprises, and recreational opportunities that make Lincoln unique. We are especially appreciative of the work that Angela Kearney so effectively did in bringing together a strong working committee, getting and analyzing a tremendous amount of data and public commentary, and doing the lion’s share of the work in writing and editing the final report.

In substance, in public process and in presentation, the Town's Open Space Plan captures the information, the spirit, and the aspirations of the unique community which is Lincoln. While we have all traditionally been proud of the work accomplished by Lincoln's volunteers and community activists, I respectfully suggest that, for this Plan, particular credit is due to Angela Kearney. Angela admirably composed, coordinated, organized and responded to the myriad individuals and issues that affect the Plan.

The Cemetery Commission had the distinct pleasure of working with Angela Kearney to prepare a cemetery layout plan that would accommodate 150 variable-size burial plots in a 5-acre wooded site. Her plan was insightful and imaginative, yet cognizant of the rules and regulations of the Town Bylaws governing the project. She successfully met our goal to plan for future expansion, while accommodating delicate wetland issues, road and building constraints, challenging topography and existing vegetation. Angela exceeded all expectations of the Board and was in fact, exemplary. Her professional talent and education combined with her infectious and interactive personal skills made her a joy to work with.

Angela and I have worked together for several years rethinking the plant material on my 2.3-acre property. My goals were to replace all non-native invasive species with native species appealing to birds, and to reduce visibility and accessibility between my house and my neighbor. Angela plunged into the project with enthusiasm and zeal. Her designs were creative, and she was always willing to experiment. At the same time, she was flexible and patient with me and always tried to accomplish my ever-changing goals and needs. We continue to work together on additional phases of the project and I have greatly enjoyed working with her.

I am extremely pleased with Minglewood Designs. I find the staff to be highly professional, motivated, honest, talented and resourceful. They never drop the ball – when they tell me they'll take care of something, I know I don't have to think about it again. Angela is a clear communicator. She has been very creative, flexible and dependable as the project evolves from year to year. She pays close attention to the budget preferences I express, and is very careful about doing things in a way that saves money and maximizes the long-term value of the project.

I would recommend Angela in a heartbeat. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and would trust her with anything. She’s smart, conscientious and really puts her heart into her work. She likes to use native plants and convinced me to try some that I would not have ordinarily used - they look great. She offered three plans and we used a hybrid of two. She was very flexible and creative in this work. She also helped us visualize everything by providing sketches and pictures and the outcome was a very natural yet elegant design. The project did go longer than anticipated but they always do. She never went over budget and she was on site every day, sometimes multiple times.
